Redmond Community Organizations Active In Disasters

Action Plan
(Under Construction)

When a diaster strikes, we will be there to help.  It’s Wednesday afternoon, the temperature is in the mid 50s.  Rain has been falling hard all day and forecasted to continue throughout the night.  You are preparing to leave your office in Redmond when without warning, a 7.4 earthquake, with the epicenter near Issaquah, shakes the entire Seattle metropolitan area.

Power outages are widespread, few traffic lights are working, cell phones are useless and landlines are down. The only way to get information is with a battery powered, emergency radio.  This is what may happen after the inevitable.  Are you prepared?  Most people working and living in the Redmond Community are not.

We, the Redmond COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster, Recovery Focus), exist to help organize & deploy resources in an effective and timely manner in response to the unmet people-needs during the recovery phase following a disaster.  Simply stated we are a “match-maker”.  We connect those in need with those with available resources.  We want to inform the Redmond community what organizations will be available for them following a disaster.

In the event of an actual disaster, the members of COAD will meet at one of the local Redmond Red Cross Shelters or at the Overlake Christian Church. The exact location of the COAD will be determined by the condition and location of the Red Cross Shelters.

Information on how to contact us will be broadcast on Redmond Radio 1650 AM, major local radio stations, from the King County Office of Emergency Management, and will be broadcast by the ARES radio team on frequency___________.  Information on our location will also be posted on this web site.
